MFHA RULE CHANGES ANNOUNCED

Following the November Committee meeting we have made changes to Rules 7, 9 and 21 of the National MFHA Rules and the Coombe Farm Wines League Rules have changed to allow intermediate teams to gain 11 points for completing up to 3 Open Classes.

Here at teamchasing.co.uk we aim to provide information for all your team chasing needs. Team chasing is one of the most exciting horse sports around at the moment, where teams of three or four horses and riders compete over natural cross-country courses all over the country. Often run by hunts, team chases are great rider and spectator events with courses for all abilities and friendly atmospheres.

At teamchasing.co.uk you can find the full team chase calendar, event details and entry forms, results and Goring Hotel and Material Change National Championship information, M.F.H.A. (the sports governing body) rules and regulations and articles written by current and past competitors. If you’re just starting out or looking for a team, why not head to the team chase message board where members are more than willing to give advice on courses and how to get a team together.

Also look out for our new ‘course walks’, designed to give competitors a view of the courses.

Coombe Farm Wines supports National Team Chase League 

Coombe Farm Wines has the pleasure of announcing that it is to sponsor the National Team Chase League for the 2011-12 season.

Teams battle it out at 18 events through the autumn and spring seasons, building to a climax at the Cotswold event in October, where cash prizes from a £2400 prize fund are awarded. There are separate sections for open and intermediate team chases and points are awarded for placing first to fifth at each event.

Coombe Farm Wines is located in the heart of the Yarra Valley, to the east of Melbourne, Australia.  The 160 acre vineyard was established in the 1990s and is expanding annually with the goal of reaching its capacity to produce 35,000 cases of select single vineyard wines each year.

Coombe Farm was the retreat of Dame Nellie Melba in the late 1900s, the greatest soprano of her time.  She had a career that spanned over 30 years, during which time she sang regularly at Covent Garden in London and was made a Dame of the British Empire in 1918.

Director of Coombe Farm Wines Mark Vestey says: “We are delighted to support the National Team Chase League. This is an exciting and unique sport, which is much enjoyed by our family – what could be nicer than sponsoring something that has given us all so much pleasure.”

Since its introduction in 2008, the league has generated intense competition between the teams and encouraged regular participation by riders who travel for as much as five hours to get to the events.

Sarah Myhill of the Art Hotel Chasers, 2010 open league winners and 2011 national champions comments: “We all want to win the league, it makes us even more competitive! It is brilliant news that Coombe Farm Wines have agreed to sponsor it this year. This will encourage others to take up team chasing – a sport in which, because of the speed and the size of the fences, promotes high standards of riding.”

The first event in the Coombe Farm Wines National Team Chase League 2011-12 is the Essex and Suffolk, to be held at Semer, near Hadleigh on Sunday 6th November 2011 and the series will culminate at the 2012 Cotswold Team Chase.
