Rules For All Competitions
  1. No horse or pony may compete more than once in each class, or in more than 2 classes
  2. The course will be open for walking from 10am on Saturday 20th March
  3. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times(including course walking on Saturday)
  4. Declarations and substitutions must be made to the secretary.
  5. Pairs & Teams must jump all the fences between the red and white flags as per the course plan. Any horse taking the wrong course will be eliminated.
  6. Each pair / team member will wear a number. These will be issued at the secretary’s trailer. The captain of each pair / team will be responsible for their allocation and prompt return.
  7. Each pair / team will be allocated a starting time which may be altered on the day at any time by the organisers. Teams must be ready to start at least 10 minutes before the starting time.
  8. Crash helmets and Body Protectors must be worn, these must comply to current approved and recognised British safety standards
  9. The organisers will reserve the right to :
    • Alter the advertised times.
    • Refuse entry with or without reason.
    • Withhold any prize money because of insufficient entries (less than 20 per class).
    • Eliminate any competitor not adhering to the rules.
    • Alter the course or leave out any obstacle before or during a competition.
  10. The organisers do not accept liability for any accident or damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, grooms, ground spectators or any other person or property on the ground.
  11. Competitors may not ride on, over, or near any part of the course, except when competing. Competitors may exercise their horses in the area provided.
  12. Riders and owners of competing horses and their employees must obey any order given to them by a responsible official and in particular they shall not do anything liable to upset or hinder the smooth running of the event.
  13. If at any time before or during the competition a horse is deemed to be sick, lame or exhausted it may be eliminated on the authority of a veterinary surgeon.
  14. The judge’s decision is final at all times.
  15. Any pair team or any other person wishing to lodge an objection must first deposit £10 with the secretary and make their objections in writing within 10 minutes of the last competitor completing the course (or being eliminated). The £10 deposit will be refunded if the objection is upheld.
  16. In the event of postponement due to bad weather or any unforeseen circumstances no refund of entry fees can be made. If cancelled, entry fees will be returned less a charge of £5.00 per pair / team to cover administration costs.
  17. It is a requirement that all participants carry Third Party insurance for not less than £5m.
    It is strongly recommended that all participants have Personal Accident insurance.

PAIRS CLASS ONLY ADDITIONAL RULES

  • The Pairs Class will run in accordance with 2003 Rules of Horse Trials. Penalties will be incurred for refusals and falls. 5 Penalties will be incurred for each fence not dressed as a pair.
  • There will be a timed section on the course against the clock. The time will only be used in the event of a tie in penalties.

TEAM CHASE ONLY ADDITIONAL RULES

  • The Team Chase Class is run in accordance with M.F.H.A Rules for Team Chases 2003
  • Falls and refusals will be penalised by time only. Team members are asked to retire after 3 refusals at any one fence.
  • Each team will consist of a maximum of four horses and riders and at least three of the team must finish the course in order to qualify.
  • All competitors must obey the order of the Starter and the time for each team will be taken from the drop of the Starter’s flag and end as the third team member crosses the finish line.
  • Class 3 - Inter Hunt (against the clock) Riders must be 16 years old or over, horses must be over 14.2hh and five years old or over.

Neither the Organisers, nor the Landowners, nor any person acting on their behalf shall be responsible for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to Horses, Riders, Spectators or any other persons or property whatsoever.

Health & Safety - The Organiser has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the Health & Safety of everyone present. For those measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organiser and all the officials and stewards.
