Rules
  1. No horse may compete more than once and no rider may exchange horses once a team has started.
  2. Falls, refusals etc. are not penalised. However, riders having three refusals at any one obstacle or five refusals in total must retire and immediately leave the course at a walk.
  3. Competitors must jump the fences in numerical order with red flags on their right and white flags on their left. Failure to do so will incur elimination.
  4. The judges’ decision is final in all matters. Any team wishing to lodge an objection must first deposit £50 with the secretary and make their objection in writing within 20 minutes of the incident. The £50 will be refunded if the objection is upheld.
  5. It is the responsibility of competitors to ensure that their horses are sound and fit enough for the classes in which they are entered. If at any time before or during a competition, a horse appears sick, injured or tired, the rider must immediately withdraw the horse. Competitors failing to do so will be eliminated on the authority of a veterinary surgeon, official steward or the judges.Any abuse of a horse will result in immediate disqualification.
  6. It is the responsibility of all competitors and in particular all team captains to check alterations to the course on the day of the event.
  7. Riders must wear a crash hat (BFEN 1384 or equivalent) and back protector (Class 3) at all times. Riders must carry third party insurance for not less than £5,000,000. It is strongly recommended that all participants have personal accident insurance.
  8. Teams should report to the starter 15 minutes before their allotted start time. At the starter’s discretion, a team arriving late may be allocated another time slot. However, if no time slot is available, the team will be eliminated from the competition with no refund of entrance fee.
  9. Children must be kept under control and dogs on leads at all times.
  10. Competitors may exercise their horses only in the area provided.
  11. The organisers reserve the right to:
    • Withhold all or any prize money or prizes in the event of insufficient entries.
    • Alter advertised times.
    • Alter the course.
    • Refuse any entry without stating a reason.
    • Eliminate any competitor not adhering to the rules or disobeying an official.
    • Cancel or postpone a class or the whole event. If cancelled, 50% of entry fees will be refunded. If postponed, a 50% refund or a full transfer of the entry fee to the revised date will be offered.
  12. The organisers, landowners and occupiers of the land do not accept responsibility or any liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, grooms, spectators or any other person or property whatsoever. Vehicles are parked at their owners’ own risk.
  13. A £10 refundable deposit is required for each set of number cloths.
