Fernie Team Chase Rules

THESE RULES MUST BE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE MFHA RULES
  1. STEWARDS - There will be a panel of stewards whose decision on all matters connected with this Event will be final and binding on all competitors. The stewards have the sole discretion to call an enquiry into any matter, and can request the attendance of any competitor, spectator, official or other person attending the event if required.
  2. OBJECTIONS - Any team wishing to lodge an objection with this panel must first deposit £20 with the Secretary and make its objection in writing within 10 minutes of the last team in the class completing the course (or being eliminated). The £20 will be refunded if the objection is upheld
  3. TEAMS - Each team shall consist of a maximum of 4 horses and riders and at least 3 three horses and riders must complete the course successfully for that team to finish. In the event of a dead heat between teams, the time of the fourth horse will count.
  4. STARTING TIME - Each team will be given a starting time, but this may be amended by the Organiser's at their discretion. Teams must be in the collecting ring and ready to start at least 10 minutes before the time they are given.

  6. JUMPING ORDER - Competitors must jump the fences in numerical order and leave red flags on their right and white flags on their left. Failure to do so will incur elimination. No fence may be jumped in reverse or out of order.
  7. MARKING OF COURSE - The Cubhunter Class course will be marked by white numbers on a black background, the National Team Chase Championship course will be marked by white numbers on a red background and The UK Hunt Team Chase course will be marked by black numbers on a white background.
  8. ELIMINATION ON COURSE - If at least 3 members of the team have not completed the course within 8 minutes of the team starting, the team will be eliminated.
  9. WINNING TIME - In the National Team Chase Championship and The UK Hunt Team Chase the fastest team to complete will win. In the Cubhunter Class the team nearest the 'bogey' time will win. Falls will be penalised by time only.
  10. MOUNTED STEWARD'S JURISDICTION - Mounted Stewards will be on the course with authority to stop any competitor continuing on an exhausted horse or ill treating their horse. If they are not obeyed, the whole team may be disqualified.
  11. DAMAGE TO FENCES - When damage occurs to a fence, the event will continue at the discretion of the Organisers with that part of the fence damaged marked with white crossed sticks which must not be jumped by the competitors.
  12. DRESS - Competitors in the Cubhunter Class and the National Team Chase Championship must wear standard cross country dress (see separate ruling for The UK Hunt Team Chase).
  13. PROTECTION - All competitors must wear a body protector and crash helmet to British Safety Standards - obligatory in ALL classes. All those mounted (including grooms and helpers) must wear a hard hat.
  14. NUMBER CLOTHS - All teams will be given number cloths. These will be issued at the Secretary's Tent - a deposit of £10 for the 4 cloths will be charged at the time of declaration and will be refundable when ALL 4 cloths are returned.
