TEAM CHASE - OCTOBER 16th 2005

THESE RULES MUST BE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH MFHA RULES
- For under 14 and under 16 teams, the team closest to a bogey time will win. N.B. It is against the rules of team chasing for any person under 16 to compete against the clock across country.
- No person shall ride until they have attained the age of 16 years for the Intermediate Team Chase or The Open.
- Teams will consist of three or four horses, the fastest three to count.
- Competitors must jump the fences in numerical order and leave all red flags on their right and all white flags on their left. Any competitor taking the wrong course will be eliminated.
- Refusals and falls will be penalised by time only. Team members MUST retire after three refusals at any one fence or five on the course.
- If at least three horses have not completed the course in 10 minutes of the team starting, the team will be eliminated.
- Each team will be numbered. Numbers will be issued at the secretary’s tent and a deposit of £10 will be charged at the time of issue, which will be refundable. The Team Captain will be responsible for this.
- Each team will be given a starting time, which may be altered at any time by the organisers. Teams must be in the collecting ring and ready to start at least 15 minutes before their starting time. Teams not running at their allotted time will incur a 10 second penalty.
- Team captains must declare to the Secretary 40 minutes before their start time.
- No horses may compete more than once in the event.
- All competitors must wear a body protector and crash helmet to British Safety Standards obligatory in ALL classes. All those mounted (including grooms and helpers) must wear a hard hat.
- The judges’ decision will be final at all times.
- In the event of a tie the prize money will be divided.
- Competitors may exercise their horses in the area provided. They may not ride on, over or near any part of the course except when competing.
- Team Captains must notify at the Secretary’s tent any substitution of horse or rider at least 30 minutes before their starting time.
- The Organisers reserve the right to:
- Withhold any prize because of insufficient declared entries.
- Alter the advertised times
- Refuse any entry with or without stating reasons.
- Alter the course or leave out any obstacle before or during the competition.
- Eliminate any competitor not adhering to the rules.
- Eliminate any horse they consider exhausted, sick or lame.
- All competitors must obey the orders of the Starter and the time for each team will start as the first team member crosses the start line and end as the third team member crosses the finishing line.
- Any team or any other person wishing to lodge an objection must first deposit £20 with the Secretary and make their objection in writing within 10 minutes of the last competitor completing the course (or being eliminated). The deposit will be refunded if the objection is upheld.
- The Organisers do not accept liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, grooms, ground spectators or any person or property on the ground.
- All horseboxes, lorries or cars are parked at owner’s risk. No responsibility will be accepted for damage to or loss from cars etc., parked on the premises.
- In the event of postponement due to bad weather or any other unforeseen circumstances no refund of entry fees can be made, but if cancelled half the entry fees will be refunded.
- It is a requirement that all participants carry Third Party insurance for not less than £5 million. It is also strongly recommended that all participants have Personal Accident Insurance.
DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEAD AT ALL TIMES
WHISTLES WILL BE BLOWN BY STEWARDS TO GIVE WARNING OF APPROACHING HORSES, BUT SPECTATORS ARE URGED TO TAKE CARE AT ALL TIMES
