RULES AND REGULATIONS
- MFHA rules apply to this event. A copy is available in the secretary’s tent.
- Teams will consist of three or four horses and riders. The fastest three to count in the speed classes. The time of the third horse to count in classes against a bogey time.
- Teams must pass between all the marker flags. Any horse taking the wrong course, which is not rectified, will be eliminated.
- Concussion: Any rider who sustains concussion shall under no circumstances compete again for at least the remainder of that day.
- Protection: Competitors must wear a body protector and crash hat to current approved British Safety Standards. Any person mounted must wear a hard hat.
- Age: No person under the age of sixteen may compete in a speed class.
- No horse / pony may compete twice in the same class, or more than twice in the day. No rider may exchange horses once a team has started.
- All horses / ponies must be at least 5 years old and a minimum of 14.2hh in class 2.
- All dogs must be kept on leads.
- Refusals: The number of refusals shall not exceed three at any one fence, or five on the course per horse, when the competitor shall be eliminated and must leave the course at once. The team will be disqualified for the abuse of this rule by any individual member.
- Objections: Any objection must be handed to the secretary in writing within 10 minutes of the class results being published. The objection must be accompanied with a deposit of £20.
- Organisers Rights: The organisers reserve the right to cancel any class or the event, to transfer competitors between classes, to refuse any entry, to alter advertised times, to withhold all or any prize money, and to eliminate any competitor to be judged not to be adhering to the rules.
- The Pen: The first three horses entering the pen should have twelve feet on the ground before anyone jumps out. Failure to observe this rule will incur a 20 second time penalty.
- Horse welfare: Excessive use of the whip, inappropriate riding or exhausted horses will be told to retire by a steward. Serious misconduct at the discretion of the steward may incur elimination of the team.
- Refunds: In the event of postponement due to bad weather or any other unforeseen circumstances, no refund of entry fees will be made but if cancelled, 75% of entry fees will be refunded.
- The Judges decision will be final at all times.
- Insurance: It is a requirement that all competitors carry third party insurance for not less than £5m. Third party insurance is covered by membership of the Countryside Alliance and may also come with some horse and house insurance, but this must be checked. It is strongly recommended that all participants have personal accident insurance.
- Disclaimer of Liability: Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of Organisers for which they are legally responsible, neither the Organisers of any event to which these rules apply, nor any representative of these bodies accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, vehicles, contents or accessories or any other person whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence or in any other way.
