General Rules and Conditions of Entry.

  1. Teams will consist of four horses and riders, the fastest three count with the exception of Class 1.
    The time of the third member to finish will be the time of the team. The time of the fourth member will also be taken in case any of the other three fail to comply with the rules.

  2. Fences have ‘Hunt Jump’ markers, and teams will jump between these. Any competitor taking the wrong course will be eliminated and must retire from the course. A competitor may continue if the course error is corrected immediately.

  3. Falls and refusals will be penalised by time only. Three refusals at the same fence, or five refusals on the course, by any one horse eliminates that member of the team and he / she MUST retire from the course.

  4. Any attempt by a competitor to rejoin the competition after being eliminated under rules 2 or 3 may result in the elimination of the whole team.

  5. Failure to comply with a request from a steward may result in the elimination of the whole team.

  6. No horse may compete more than once during the day. Riders may ride several different horses if they wish.

  7. Each team will be numbered and each member will wear a different coloured number in accordance with the details shown in the programme. Individual prizes will be awarded in accordance with the colours shown in the programme.

  8. Each team will be given a starting time and must report to the collecting steward ten minutes before that time.

  9. The wearing of CRASH HATS is COMPULSORY at all times when mounted. It is also strongly recommended that BODY PROTECTORS and STOCKS be worn.

  10. It is a requirement that all participants carry Third Part Insurance for not less than £5m. It is also strongly recommended that all participants have personal accident insurance.

  11. Class 1 riders must have attained their 12th birthday. Class 2 riders must have attained their 16th birthday and Class 3 riders their 17th birthday and their horses to be 14.2h.h and over and be five years old and over.

  12. In the event of a tie, the prizes will be divided.

  13. The organisers reserve the right to:-
    1. Withhold any prize because of insufficient entries.
    2. Alter the advertised times.
    3. Alter the course.
    4. Eliminate a competitor or team not adhering to the rules.
    5. Impose a time penalty of 30 seconds for any team not ready to start in the order of the programme.

  14. The organisers do not accept any liability for any accident, damage, illness or injury to horses, owners, riders, grooms, spectators or any other persons or property on the ground. All cars and horseboxes are parked at owner’s risk. All competitors are strongly advised to have their own insurance cover.

  15. In the event of a postponement, no refund of entries will be made, but if cancelled 50% of entry fee will be refunded on receipt of a S.A.E.

  16. Only the owner or rider of a horse taking part in the competition is entitled to lodge an objection, which should be made in writing to the secretary and accompanied by a deposit of £20.00 within ten minutes of the result of the class being announced. The deposit will be forfeited unless the objection is upheld.

  17. The decision of the judges is final.

  18. All cups / trophies must be returned to Hon. Secretary – any damage or loss must be reimbursed.
