BERKELEY HUNT TEAM CHASE Sunday 14th October 2007
Conditions of entry
NB these rules must be read in conjunction with MHFA rules
- No person shall ride in the intermediate (3’3”) Team Chase or the Open until they have attained the age of 16 yrs.
- Teams will consist of 3 or 4 horses - the fastest 3 count
- Competitors must jump the fences in numerical order. Leaving all red flags on their right and all white flags on their left. Any competitor taking the wrong course will be eliminated.
- Refusals and falls will be penalized by time only. Competitors MUST retire after 3 refusals at any one fence or 5 on one course.
- If at least 3 horse have not completed the course within 10 minutes of the team starting, the team will be eliminated.
- Each team will be numbered. Team captains' are responsible for collecting the numbers from the secretary’s tent and paying a refundable £10 deposit at that time.
- Each team will be given a starting time by the entries secretary. This may be altered at any time by the organizers. Teams MUST be in the collecting ring and ready to start at least 15 min before their starting time. Teams not running at their allocated starting time will incur a 10 second penalty.
- Team captains must declare to the secretary at least 40 minutes before their starting time.
- Team captains must notify at the secretary’s tent any substitutions of the horse or rider at least 30 minutes before their starting time.
- No horse may compete more than once in the event.
- All competitors MUST wear body protectors and crash helmets to approved British Safety Standards. This is mandatory in all classes. All those mounted (including grooms and helpers) must wear a hard hat.
- The judges decision will be final at all times.
- In the event of a tie the prize money will be divided.
- Competitors may exercise their horses in the area provided. They may not ride on, over or near any part of the course except when competing.
- The organizers reserve the right to:
- Withhold any prize because of insufficient declared entries.
- Refuse any entry without stating reason.
- Alter the course or leave out any obstacle before or during the competition.
- Eliminate any competitor not adhering to the rules.
- Eliminate any horse they consider exhausted, sick or lame.
- Alter the advertised times.
- All competitors must obey the orders of the starter. The time of each time will commence as the first team member crosses the start line and end as the third team member crosses the finish line.
- Any team or other person wishing to lodge an objection must first deposit £20 with the secretary and make their objection in writing within 10 min of the last competitor completing the course (or being eliminated). Deposits to be refunded if the objection is upheld.
- The organizers do not accept liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders or grooms, spectators or any person or property on the ground.
- All horseboxes, lorries and cars are parked at the owners risk. No responsibility will be accepted for damage to or loss from any vehicle parked on the premises.
- In the event of postponement of the event due to the weather or any other unforeseen circumstances, no refund of entry fees can be made. In the event of cancellation, half the entry will be refunded.
- It is required that all participants carry Third Party Insurance for no less than £5 million. It is also strongly recommended that all participants have Personal Accident Insurance.

WHISTLES WILL BE BLOWN BY STEWARDS TO GIVE WARNING OF APPROACHING HORSES, BUT SPECTATORS ARE URGED TO TAKE CARE AT ALL TIMES
