RULES

The Rules of the Fernie Team Chase and the MFHA Cross-Country Team Event Rules will apply to this class, subject to the following additions:

  1. Entries will only be accepted for The UK Hunt Team Chase from teams of three or four subscribers or hunt servants from one Hunt only, with the name of the Hunt in front of the Team name (eg. Fernie Friendlies, Warwickshire Wobblies, Puckeridge Punters, Tiverton Tigers, Tynedale Thrusters etc). The competition is open to subscribers and hunt servants of all properly recognized packs of hounds in the United Kingdom and Ireland, including any drag or bloodhounds providing they are properly registered with their relevant hunt association.

  2. Entries for The Fernie Intermediate will be accepted from teams of three or four riders who are sufficiently competent to tackle an intermediate Team Chase course. Each Team must indicate on the Entry Form which element of this class they are entering.

Rules applicable to both elements of this class:

  3. The entry charge is £90 per team including the MFHA Levy.

  4. No person shall be eligible to compete in this class until they have attained the age of 16 and all horses must exceed 14.2 hands high.

  5. The length of the course is 1¾ miles with approximately 25 fences, all on old turf. The height of the fences is around 3ft 6in, and they do not exceed 3ft 9in. The course may be walked on Saturday 31st March.

  6. If help is required with overnight accommodation and/or stabling for team members and their horses (which can be provided locally), please contact the Secretary as early as possible for details of appropriate contacts. The Team Captain shall be held responsible for any unsatisfactory late cancellations of confirmed bookings. All requests must be made before Saturday 17th March.

  7. Each competitor must wear crash hats and body protectors in accordance with MFHA Cross Country Team Event Rules.

Rules applicable to The UK Hunt Team Chase only:

  8. No team in the UK Hunt Team Chase may consist of more than two riders who have previously been placed (in positions 1st to 6th) in an Open Team Event since 1st January 2004.

  9. Each Hunt may enter as many teams as it wishes. In the event of over-subscription, entries will be limited and it may be necessary to restrict the number of teams per Hunt.

  10. Each team must have confirmation from a Master of their Hunt that EVERY member of the team is a subscriber to, or Hunt Servant of, the Hunt they are representing and has hunted on at least four occasions with that hunt during the current season, in order to make their entry valid (the signature of the Master is required on the entry form). The organisers reserve the right to seek further clarification if required.

  11. Late substitutions will be allowed, but the additional Master’s Certificate in respect of any late substitute must be lodged with the Secretary in advance of the competition.

  12. All teams will be required to wear either standard Hunt dress or a black, blue or red jersey to match normal hunting attire. Body protectors may be warn either under or over Hunt Dress or Black/Blue/Red Jerseys.

  13. For the avoidance of doubt, no travel allowances will be paid this year.

Prizes and Prizemoney for both classes

  14. Prize money for the UK Hunt Team Chase will be paid to the Hunt – NOT to the individual team members, and no winning Hunt will receive more than one prize. In the event of two teams from the same Hunt finishing in the top four places, the Hunt will only receive one prize and the prize money will be extended down to one additional place. 1st - £1000, 2nd - £600, 3rd - £300, 4th - £160.

  15. The Fernie Cup will be presented to the overall winner of the Class

  16. The fastest Adjacent Hunts team in The UK Hunt Team Chase will be awarded the Admiral Hill Cup. To be eligible for Adjacent Hunts Prize members of a team must consist entirely of, subscribers or hunt servants of the Atherstone, Belvoir, Cottesmore, Fernie, Pytchley, Quorn, Warwickshire or Woodland Pytchley Hunts.

  17. The Beeby Hubbard Cup will be presented to the fastest Fernie team in the UK Hunt Team Chase.

  18. Prize money for The Fernie Intermediate will be paid to the Team Captain: 1st - £400, 2nd - £275, 3rd - £160, 4th - £100.

  19. Rosettes will be awarded to the winners of each section, and to the top 10 placed teams in overall numerical order. A team finishing lower than 10th place overall in the class will not be eligible for any prize-money in either section. In the event of the 3rd and 4th placed UK Hunt Team Chase teams finishing higher than the 1st and 2nd placed Fernie Intermediate teams, then the prize money for respective positions shall be reversed and shall be awarded in numerical order. The prize-giving will take place at about 4.45pm.
