Old Berks Hunt Cross Country Team Event Sunday 4th March 2007

RULES
  1. Teams to consist of three or four horses : at least three horses must complete the course. The time of the third horse through the finish will be the time for the team. Falls, refusals etc., are not penalised except by time.

  2. Competitors must jump all fences in numerical order and leave red flags on the right and white on the left. Failure to do so will incur elimination.

  3. Riders must have attained their 16th birthday, horses must be 14.2hh or over (Fun & Easy class excepted) and be 5 years or over, and may compete only once in each class.

  4. A time limit will be set for the completion of the course. Any team whose first three members exceed this will be eliminated and must retire from the course. Any rider who has three refusals at any one obstacle will be eliminated and must retire from the course. If an eliminated rider rejoins his team, then that team will be eliminated. Any rider overtaken by a member of the following team must retire. Any competitor whose horse is deemed to be exhausted must obey the instruction of the mounted steward or fence judge and retire from the course.

  5. In the event of a tie the time of the fourth horse to finish will be the time for the team.

  6. Hunting dress or appropriate team uniform and body protection to be worn. Each team will have a coloured bib, for which they will be charged £5 per team per day. The £5 will be returned when the bibs are returned. All riders must wear crash helmets with chin harnesses. Sharp spurs must not be worn.

  7. Team captains must declare to the Secretary 1 hour before their starting time.

  8. Mounted teams must report to the collecting ring 15 minutes before their starting time.

  9. The course will be open for inspection at 12pm on Saturday 3rd March 2007

  10. The organisers have the right to:

    1. Withold any prize if there are insufficient entries

    2. alter advertised times

    3. refused any entry without stating a reason

    4. alter the course or leave out any obstacle

    5. eliminate anyone not adhering to the rules or who disobeys officials

  11. In the event of postponement or cancellation entry fees cannot be refunded.

  12. The organisers will accept no liability for any accident, damage, loss or injury to person, animal or property whatsoever. Vehicles are parked at owners risk.

  13. DOGS TO BE KEPT ON LEADS AT ALL TIMES, INCLUDING WALKING THE COURSE.

  14. Anyone lodging an objection must deposit the sum of £50.

  15. No two teams may have the same name. In this event, the secretary will allocate a name.
Fun & Easy: All prizes will be awarded against an undisclosed Bogey Time. Rules for special prizes:

Family prize: All members of the team must be related to the team captain in one of the following ways: wife; husband; daughter; son; brother; sister; uncle; aunt; nephew; niece; grandparent.

Best under 16: No member must have reached their 16th birthday.

Best Old Berks: All members of the team to be members, subscribers or farmers or their children of the Old Berks Hunt or Old Berks Pony Club.

Cubhunters: There are two ways of winning a prize:

    1. the 8 teams with the fastest times and the fastest Old Berks Team.(see above rules for qualifications)

    2. the remaining 4 prizes will be against an undisclosed bogey time.

No team can win more than one prize. It is not necessary to nominate a category beforehand. The team’s time will automatically decide this. In the event of a team gaining more than one prize, the organisers will give them the prize with the highest amount of money. Eligibility for the special prize must be declared.

Both the above classes are intended as fun events !Please respect this spirit !

It is a requirement that all participants carry third party insurance for not less than £5m. It is also strongly recommended that all participants have personal accident insurance.
