Old Berks Hunt Team Chase Saturday March 27th 2010


RULES (run under MFHA rules)
  1. Teams to consist of three to four horses: at least three horses must complete the course. The time of the third horse through the finish will be the time for the team. In the Pairs class, the time of the second horse through the finish will be the time for the pair. Falls, refusals, etc are not penalised except by time.

  2. Competitors must jump all the fences in numerical order and leave red flags on the right and white flags on the left. Failure to do so will incur elimination.

  3. Riders must have attained their 16th birthday to compete in the Intermediate class and must have attained their 12th birthday to compete in the Novice class by th 27th March 2010. Horses must be 14.2hh or over (Novice and Pairs classes excepted) and be 5 years old or over. Individual horses may compete in a maximum of two classes only.

  4. A time limit will be set for the completion of the course. Any Team whose first three members, or any pair who, exceed this will be eliminated and must retire from the course. Any rider who has three refusals at any one obstacle will be eliminated and must retire from the course. If an eliminated rider rejoins his team, then that team will be eliminated. Any rider overtaken by a member of the following team must retire. Any competitor whose horse is deemed to be exhausted must obey the instruction of the mounted steward or fence judge and retire from the course.

  5. In the event of a tie the time of the fourth horse to finish will be the time for the team.

  6. Hunting dress or appropriate team uniform and body protection to be worn. Each team will have a coloured bib, for which they will be charged £10 per team per day. The £10 will be returned when the bibs are returned. All riders MUST wear crash helmets with chin harness. Sharp spurs must not be worn.

  7. Team captains must declare to the Secretary 1 hour before their starting time.

  8. Mounted teams must report to the collecting ring 15 minutes before their starting times.

  9. The course will be open for inspection at 12pm on Friday 26th March 2010.

  10. The organisers have the right to:
    1. Withhold any prize if there are insufficient entries
    2. Alter advised times
    3. Refuse any entry without stating a reason
    4. Alter the course or leave out any obstacle
    5. Eliminate anyone not adhering to the rules or who disobeys the officials

  11. In the event of postponement or cancellation 50% of th entry fee will be refunded.

  12. The organisers will accept no liability for any accident, damage, loss or injury to person, animal or property whatsoever. Vehicles are parked at their own risk.

  13. DOGS TO BE KEPT ON LEADS AT ALL TIMES, INCLUDING WHEN WALKING THE COURSE.

  14. Anyone lodging an objection must deposit the sum of £50.

  15. No two teams may have the same name. In this event, the secretary will allocate a name.

  16. The Pen: The first three horses entering the pen must have twelve feet on the ground before anyone jumps out. Failure to do so will incur a 30 second time penalty. This rule does not apply to Class 3 – Pairs.

INTERMEDIATE: There are two ways of winning a prize:
a) The 3 teams with the fastest times and the fastest Old Berks Team. (See above for qualifications)
b) The 3 teams with times closest to an undisclosed Bogey Time.
No team can win more than one prize. It is not necessary to nominate a category beforehand. The team’s time will automatically decide this. In the event of a team gaining more than one prize, the organisers will give them the prize with the highest monetary value. Eligibility for the special prize must be declared.

NOVICE: All prizes will be awarded against an undisclosed Bogey Time.
Rules for special prizes:
Best Under 16: No member to have reached their 16th birthday on 27th March 2010
Best Old Berks: All members of the team to be members, subscribers or farmers (or their children) of the Old Berks Hunt or Old Berks Hunt Pony Club.

PAIRS: All prizes will be awarded against an undisclosed Bogey Time.

All the above classes are intended as fun events, please respect this spirit!


DIRECTIONS TO STEP FARM:

FROM A420 (SWINDON DIRECTION):

  1. Turn left at Park Road Roundabout following signs for the A417 Lechlade.
  2. Continue to follow signs soe A417 through Faringdon.
  3. Step Farm is approx 1.5m on the left hand side, outside Faringdon on the A417 towards Lechlade.

FROM A420 (OXFORD DIRECTION):

  1. Turn right at Park Road Roundabout following signs for the A417 Lechlade.
  2. Continue to follow signs soe A417 through Faringdon.
  3. Step Farm is approx 1.5m on the left hand side, outside Faringdon on the A417 towards Lechlade.

FROM LECHLADE:

  1. Take A417 south out of Lechlade towards Faringdon. After approx 4m Step Farm is on the right hand side 1.5m before you arrive in Faringdon.
