THE INGARSBY CHALLENGE CUP

INSTRUCTIONS & RULES
- The Ride will take place over a grass course on the Ingarsby Estate. The course will be over about three and a quarter miles with 23 fences, over good hunting country.
- There will be a section in every fence that is no larger than the average size fence you would encounter on a day’s hunting in that area. Therefore the Ride will be suitable for those who wish to have a pleasant ride across country at their own pace on a fit horse, as well as those who wish to compete for the prizes.
- Prizes will be awarded in seven separate classes, which will carry not less than the following weights (including saddles):

Checks will be made this year on weights carried to ensure that members do carry the correct weight. Weighing scales will be available. All those who complete the course must weigh in afterwards at the finish. Rosettes will be awarded to the first 10 finishers. Each person can win a maximum of 3 classes.
- Members must enter in the correct class and will not be permitted to change classes on the day. (Minimum age 16 years). Entries must be received by 10th November 2007.
- All entrants will be asked to contribute £50 up to the closing date for entries on Saturday 10th November, refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled due to the weather. Remittances must accompany entries (otherwise entry will not be valid).
- The ride will be limited to 50 members. If the entry list is full, members may only be placed on the waiting list on receipt of entry form, together with full fee of £50 (refundable in full in the event of being balloted out).
- There will again be a ‘Fun Ride’, which will take place over smaller fences adjacent to part of the main course in aid of the Quorn Hunt Supporters Club. It will be over the same distance as the main ride. It will start immediately after the last competitive rider on the main Ride has gone through the crossover on the course. There will be no result and no prizes for the ‘Fun Ride’. Entries must be made before taking part but will be taken up to the previous night entry fee £30.
Rules 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13,14 and 15 will also apply to those taking part in the ‘Fun Ride’.
- Numbers will be issued at Control before the start against a deposit of £10, which should be added to the entry fee and which will be refunded at Control after the finish. It is important to ensure that number cloths are returned directly to the Secretary at the finish.
- Full details of the course including a plan, together with instructions about horse boxes and parking, will be sent, on receipt of a completed entry form and stamped addressed envelope.
- Entrants are particularly reminded that horses should be fully fit to run over three and a quarter miles before being entered, and may be subject to veterinary inspection. Similarly for the ‘Fun Ride’.
- All entrants must walk the course before taking part in the Ride, the course will be available to be walked from the 12th November 2007.
- The organisers reserve the right to ask any rider to stop during the course of the Ride, if they consider him unfit to continue for any reason.
- Crash hats and back protectors to current British Standards will be worn by all entrants taking part in the Ride.
- Entrants participate in the Ride entirely at their own risk. Neither the organisers nor the owners of the land, whose kindness makes this event possible, accept any liability for accidents to entrants or their horses or their vehicles. All entrants are required to sign a legal disclaimer of responsibility on the day of the ride.
- In the event of possible postponement due to bad weather, there will be an Answerphone service at least 48 hours beforehand (there will be no direct notification) on Leicester (0116) 259 5366.
- Tack carried by the horse should be marked to ensure that loose horses are quickly returned to their owners.
- All ten classes will start simultaneously there will be no staggered start.
- The organisers reserve the right to disqualify anyone found guilty of unsuitable conduct.
- The overall winner of the Ride will be awarded the Ingarsby Challenge Cup and a magnum of champagne.
- There will be a barbecue and bar, run by the Hunt Supporters and LOROS after the ride and the prize giving will take part at 1.15pm at Ingarsby Old Hall. Most of the proceeds for the ride will be given to Rainbows Hospice Charity for children, with donations to the Air Ambulance, QHSC and LOROS.
