Fight the Ban.Com took the inaugural South & West Wilts Hunt Team Chase Open National Qualifier. It was organised by and held at Charlie and Catherine Cotton’s Farm, Lower Leigh, East Knoyle on Sunday 22nd October.

Teams travelled from as far away as East Sussex, Cheshire and Cornwall to take part in the second Team Chase at Lower Leigh Farm - but it was the first ever Open Qualifier.

The day began overcast and showery with the Fun Class consisting of 26 teams, 3 of which were from the Kings Troop RHA, who charged round on their Chargers and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Novice followed with 9 teams and as the heavens opened, the Open got under way with 12 team entries.

Locally based Erica’s Army, consisting of Erica Bridge, Lucy Stoddart, Nick Rae and Jane Clark, qualified for the national championships, which are due to be held in the spring at The Fernie. All in all 198 horses took part in what was a very successful wet day, jumping hedges, ditches and timber in great style. This was a fun day for all, with rider’s ages ranging from age 10 to over 60.
