Y&A have cancelled their event due to run in feb, so a very late start looks on the cards.
Such a shame, is one of the nicest events on the calender, if not the scariest course!

No offence Greschurch, but it's the 7th of Jan. A month is a long time, and weather can change! I don't know the reasons, but i still think it's a shame.

So, our Spring season is down to just five short weeks, and a grand total of 8 events.
9 years ago there were 10 weeks of sport and a total of 22 events.
never mind Mr.Cowan, our illustrious chairman, tells us that the sport is thriving and we have never had it so good - no need for change!!
what part of cloud-cuckoo land does he live in!!
Glimmer of hope - Berks and Bucks do run at Kingsclere, on the 15th April - Secretary is going to try and get details onto website (if chairman does not invent a new rule to prevent it -although he will not sanction a contribution towards the cost of running said website). C u all there!!!

i wonder if the cancellation is due to the awful mess that the fields were in when we left last year. If you remember the bog, almost every wagon was dragged in and out by the tractors!
The course held up really well though inspite of the weather.
it is a pity as we need that lovely course to get us going before we head down to the Badsworth and it's terrifying hedges!

Sadly the course is not available for this year due to unforseen circumstances of the owner, the hunt have tried to find another venue, however have not found one at such short notice, any ideas???? if we can find a venue ASAP, think we could save it, but obviously time is running out.

yes, can think of 4 alternative venues, seeing as it's not a qualifier.
Helen Bell's (Thirsk), Northallerton Equestrian Centre, Craven Country Ride (Skipton)and Foxberry Chasers (Richmond). All decent xc courses, depends how they feel about a teamchase in Feb (Helen's, Northallerton and Foxberry open all year for xc practice). Will be on the phone over next few days, let you know asap.

Up in the sticks here we were putting together a team or two to have a go - our first event was to be the y&a that has been cancelled - can anyone tell me when/where our nearest next one is likely to be (roughly)? to give you an idea, we're about an hour in a horsebox north of york.

Hope you like driving!
All events are listed on the home page, with the schedules put online as they are made available to Mick. Have fun.:)

Can't you Bilsdale lot get on to your hunt to maybe run a teamchase? If i remember rightly, you hunt down as far as Thirsk; which is Helen Bell's country. Nice course there.
Badger Harry Stephenson about it, he's a good bloke, probably sort something out for you, especially if you point out it's one of our hunt's best revenues.
Also ask him if one of the hounds he donated to the Badsworth was called Duster, can't remember the names he gave me. Duster is currently famous for diving down wells

Harry Stephenson says it was Duster he donated.
How does a hound come to be diving down wells? I know Bilsdale is famous for its bogs, but the hounds usually avoid them!
Am busy trying to persuade the powers that be that we should hold a team chase. not sure where/when just yet tho.

Think they have tried those places not sure about skipton as it is a bit far out of our hunt country for us to organise, i know they were hoping on helen bell's so presume that was a no, mainly we need a course to hire and churn up for free so we cant blame people for saying no. I have been encouraging the idea of a hunt race around Ribston Park, so watch this space hopefully should get the go ahead! but dont know when etc...
