Hello Everyone who reads these messages. I am not sure how to get on the right page so people see this so this is my second attempt - I should have gone to computer classes not sport I think!! Not..
Anyway my lovely horse, Vader, who has led the Foxberry Chasers team for the last two seasons pulled his suspensory ligament at the Badsworth so looks like having at least six months off poor chap. I am therefore on the lookout to get another horse as soon as poss and as a team we could do with a good lead horse - if anyone is selling one what's the matter with it!!!??
Also has anyone experienced getting a horse back to team chasing after this injury and any advice to ensure I give him the best chance to make a full recovery would be gratefully received. He is such a star and so fast he would be wasted and furious if not back through the laser beams as soon as realistically possible.
Would be great to hear from anyone who can help and thanks. Had a great time at the Badsworth and jsut an unhappy bunny that I will not be riding at the Heythrop unless a miracle happens!
Darth Vaders very depressed jockey x

Poor you, I know how bad things are when it all goes wrong. We've lost one of our team horses with a tendon injury, and another to Oliver Townend, so we're picking up the pieces too.
As to the injury, immobilisation and time in the spa are the best cure, but it's very depressing watching them stressed in the stable 24/7. I broke our star pointer in her first run of the season on 14th Jan, she's been in ever since and not impressed about it! Although she'll be sent to stud now so there's no pressure on the healing.
Find your local spa and get him in in, it's well worth the cost. Failing that, send him down to me and i'll do him at a discount!!:D

Thank you for your help and sorry to hear of your horses injuries. I believe there are spas at Middleham so will look into that tomo and hope the insurance will cough up the readies - however he is very much worth the expense so will go ahead regardless and thanks for that advice.
Will be watching this web site to see how everyone gets on over the spring season and hope you have a good one.
Still depressed but bouncing back from the abyss of despair...

Spas tend to be horrendously expensive, I know of one which charges over £400 per week but insurance companies do tend to cough up the readies! If your insurance doesn't cover use of a spa (or its Elephant & Loofah) have a word with the spa owners to see if you can work something out, I did in 2003 and got my neddy fixed for £100 a week, she went on to win 2 more races before the other leg went, failing that speak to burty as she has use of a spa down here.

You never know, maybe my horse's first team chase at Heythrop but I think he'll be a cracker, worth a look at as I want to get rid asap, clean legs etc see horses for sale section "Good Jumper" named Bayito. If you'd like to see him on Sunday call 07798 691181, Lucy

Hi all

Just to say my mare injured her suspensory a couple of years ago and i didn't have the use of a spa so did it the long and boring way (Burty - wish I'd known you did this cos i could have sent her to you!). Box rest and lots of walking in hand and slowly back into full work - very dull.

Having said that she has (touching wood) been competing and so far so good. My only advice would be not to rush things and try to be patient!

Amen to that. Just started jumping my mare who had a niggling tendon injury and a knee op and same leg. Soooo tempting to just pop her round an intermediate but probably foolish for another couple of weeks. Until the end of season of course... I guess we will be going eventing then. This will be highly entertaining for spectators as she likes to imitate a giraffe during dressage!
